Finding Your Perfect Rest

The son’s of Korah wrote a Psalm saying “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Ps. 42:1-2 NIV).

This Psalm really captures the need of the heart that wants to be with God. The full desire to be alone with Him in perfect rest and peace. I believe today we need this rest and peace more and more. Our world is often in turmoil, chaos, overstressed, and overscheduled. We need rest in our Lord and God.

Most of us are busy doing good things, but the reality is that we often rush our time with God. We rush the Spirit’s moving in our soul. This communion with God is needed by everyone.

Growing up I had a favorite place to go. I would walk behind the home I grew up in, and sit under a lone maple high on a hill. I could see the whole mile section, from hill top to hill top. It was my place of rest, and I often went there to read or pray. Where God has taken me in life I always try to find a place of peace where I can truly commun with God. It is necessary to build in time, but I am always refreshed and refocused.

Find your place. It may be by a river, a lake, or just a quiet place in the middle of the busy city. What ever it takes you need to take the time to refresh in God’s presence.

Enjoy Your Life’s Journey
