“ If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right.” (James 2:8)
James calls it the Royal Law, many of us may call it The Golden Rule. The title doesn’t matter, as much as the fact that we put into practice this the “second greatest commandment”, as Jesus said in Matthew 22. What is it to love our neighbor, and who is our neighbor? Jesus posed this question when he told the story of the “Good Samaritan”, where we learn that the one who is a neighbor is the one who shows care. We also learn that everyone is our neighbor.
My neighbor may be as close as the family in my own home, or as far away as a starving child in a shack across the world. Love is the key element to being a sincere neighbor. We must let go of the differences that so often divide us from one another, and learn to love others. We must learn to see others as our brothers and sisters, because we are all created by the same Heavenly Father.
Today as you go through your daily walk, open your eyes to others who may be in need. How can you help a coworker? How can you pray for a friend? Where can you meet the need of another who may be struggling to make it in this world alone? May God bless you as you share your blessings of love with others in your life.
Keep on your journey with Jesus,
