Our Foundation is Good News

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Paul was very concerned that the Corinthians never forget the foundation of their faith. That foundation was the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ. Paul gives the synopsis of the Gospel in these verses, near the end of his first letter to the Corinthians.
The Good News of Jesus Christ, as we have been learning all this week isn’t a hope of the Jews alone, but as the angels proclaimed it was “for all people” (Luke 2:10). Paul’s synopsis reminds us that the greatest joy that we have is that Jesus came to die for our sins. It was not for crimes that He had committed, but to pay the price for the sins of the entire world.
Paul follows his proclamation of the Good News of Salvation through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, by proof from the witnesses. This is to establish the proof.
Witnesses are still proclaiming the work of Christ today. It began with the angels who told of the arrival of Jesus. The shepherds carried the message to the surrounding area. The heavens declared the joy to the visiting magi. Then John “the Baptist” declared Jesus to be the “Lamb of God”. Jesus proclaimed himself to be “one with the Father”, and all who follow him continue to proclaim him to a lost world today.
Be filled with His Spirit of hope today, and share the joy of the Good news in all you say and do.
