Jesus, The Nature of God

Philippians 2:6-7 (NIV)
6  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7  but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

John begins his Gospel, not with the story of Jesus’ birth, but before the beginning of time, with God:

John 1:1-5 (NIV)
1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  He was with God in the beginning.
3  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4  In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Jesus, didn’t come into existence on the day He was born in a lowly stable.  He already was in existence.  His story begins in eternity, as part of the God head: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus, was before all the things of creation.  He was before time and creation itself.  In fact, all things came through Him, through the plan of God.  Since, God made all things, and Christ is a part of God, His love for the world is deep.  Humanity, as the greatest part of creation was, and so God’s love for us is greater than for all things.

Humanity chose sin, which separated us from God, and caused all of creation to be out of sync with God.  This is why death and destruction are  now a part of our normal world.  All of creation is, as Paul says in Romans 8, that creation is waiting for humanity’s salvation, so that it too can be released from the frustration of the curse and destruction of sin.

This is why Jesus came into the world, from the glory of heaven.  He came to redeem all that he had created.  Like an artist, who’s paintings were destroyed by vandals, returning to repaint and repair the damage.  Jesus comes into our world to forgive sins and to restore us again in relationship to God.  He has always been.  He is. And, He is coming again.  God in flesh for all Humanity.

Be blessed as you remember God did this for you, because of Love.
