Learning to say Thanks

“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). In preparing this weeks message I was challenged with the question, why do some people struggle to say thank you?  Many who struggle with thanking God, also struggle with thanking others in their own lives.Continue reading “Learning to say Thanks”

Staying Steady In the Waves of Life

James 1: 5-6 James tells us that if we need help or wisdom to “ask God” (v.5).  He also says that we “must not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave…blown and tossed by the wind” (v.6).    Eugene Peterson translates verse 6 to say, “Ask boldly believing, without a second thought” (TheContinue reading “Staying Steady In the Waves of Life”

Revival over Resolution

Earlier in January, while I was up in Michigan I took some time  to sit in prayer and listen to God. During this time I began to  think about the year gone by and the year ahead.  Many people  set out New Years Resolutions, and most are broken within a  few days of the new year .In Christ we are not called to mere resolutions,  but revolutions of our lives.  In essence our call to repent and be  born again is to reverse and go another way, which is a revolution  within our heart, soul, and life.          I contemplated these thoughts and prayed about where my life, the church within which God has called me to  minister, our community,  and our world.  The more I thought and prayed the more I felt the call  to revival.  Many people look at the term revival and think of some  special services, where they bring their unsaved loved ones to hear the gospel.   However, to be revived  really means to bring back to life or consciousness,  to impart new health, to renew, or to restore validity or effectiveness.       Continue reading “Revival over Resolution”
